Well today I picked up some candy to pass out, Reese's Cups, Whoppers, and 3 Musketeers.

Last Wednesday, a picture I took was published on the front page of the local paper.

My new carpet was installed today, it's not wretched stuff, but it comes close. I'm going to work up a note to the Board of Trustees to inform them of my displeasure.

I don't have high hopes of halting the process, but I do have some hope that the stink I'm raising will do just that. What happened was that Lowe's was originally going to do it, but after they had come in to measure for it, the president of the board of trustees made an executive decision to go with another company, not because of a better price but for some other reason, whether that was because he knows someone in the company or because it's a local company I don't know.

I got word from the editor of the paper today that they're going to make up some press credentials for me, and get me a reflective safety vest.

I wish I had an exciting life, even if there were something for me to go chase on my scanner I couldn't because my bike is busted up pretty good.

I started this site to sell my photographic products. Feel free to pass it on to anyone you think would be interested.

Well I'm going to give it a try and see how I do selling Greeting Cards and Prints of photographs I've taken. If anyone who reads this is interested, I should be getting my first stocks of them sometime after the first which is when I'll have money to invest in this adventure. Either get in touch with me here or E-Mail me if you'd like to see what I'm offering, and place an order.

The E-Mail was from the editor of the local newspaper and he said this.

"I am very grateful for your interest and apparent ability both to get to a scene and shoot it."

Sounds promising for a job in the future, but won't celebrate till it's actually official. Right now I'm enjoying doing what I'm doing, and the recognition that is being given to my effort. Anything beyond that is just gravy.

I'm a little nervous about what I did today, I reconnected with him. Hopefully it goes well, but I'm not expecting it to go well. Only time will tell, I was torn between not giving him a chance, and giving him a chance, but I decided to give him one last chance to redeem himself.

The paper actually credited me by name for the 2 pictures of mine they used in the Wednesday edition. Last time they credited my picture to Courtesy Photo.

I took a total of 169 pictures today, 142 from the parade and then 27 at the scene of an accident. I pushed myself pretty hard physically to get to the accident quickly, I'd guess I was about 20 seconds behind emergency services. It was a 2 car accident with 2 injured parties in a Plymouth Neon, the driver of a small Ford Ranger sized pickup was uninjured. The 2 injured parties were transported to the local hospital for treatment. From what I heard it sounded like the injuries were seat belt related injuries from the sudden stop. Below is a link to my pictures of the accident scene that I've submitted to the local paper for them to use if they can fit them in.

Well I decided to set off my remaining fireworks today, in the process I started a small grass fire I quickly put out with the hose. Then I put one of my fireworks that was still smoldering beside the dumpster and a little while later it caught fire, so I put that out, in the process of stomping it out, I melted the soles of my shoes a little.

Nothing really exciting happening, I saw the fireworks tonight and they were good for this podunk little town. I think I'll go to bed after I finish this soda.

Well Sunday around 2 PM EMS was dispatched to a report of a 10 year old drowning. It later turns out that it was a 6 year old girl, and she didn't make it. From what I'm hearing it was a church group outing where 4 adults were supervising 40 kids, and the adults idea of supervising was to unload them from the bus and let them loose. None of the adults realized anyone was missing till it was time to go, and then the adult stood on shore and sent some teen girls out to get the body. This same church held a sledding outing in January in which several children were hurt because someone got the bright idea that letting them sled down the hill on a car hood was somehow a good idea.

Most exciting thing I got on my scanner was a pager test for Fire and EMS. While I was standing in line for a food bank hand out event an elderly woman behind me collapsed from the heat. An ambulance was called and took her away, hopefully all is well with her. After she collapsed, the event went into overdrive, the line started moving very fast and I would guess they had the line taken care of within an hour of that woman collapsing.

The most exciting thing on the airwaves today was a rollover accident well south of me. There were reports of injuries, though it sounded like they probably wouldn't turn out to be too severe. Still waiting for something to come up on the scanner I can respond to, so I can take some pictures of it.

Heard a report of an explosion on the scanner today, but the fire department canceled the call when they found the site. Not too long ago there was a call to the EMS station for them to stage an ambu8lance near an apartment complex. There was a suicidal person there, but the situation was resolved no word on if the suicidal person surrendered or injured himself or anything.

Is looking to be severe here today, might lead to some interesting stuff on the scanner, and some good photo opportunities.
